E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness)
Google's quality framework for evaluating content — especially important for YMYL (Your Money, Your Life) topics like health, finance, and legal.
Definition
E-E-A-T stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness — the four dimensions Google's quality raters use to evaluate content quality. "Experience" (added in 2022) emphasizes first-hand experience with the subject matter. "Expertise" is subject-matter knowledge. "Authoritativeness" is how well-regarded the site and author are within the field. "Trustworthiness" is the overall accuracy and honesty of the site. E-E-A-T is not a direct ranking signal Google can algorithmically measure directly — it's a quality framework that influences how human raters score content, which in turn influences algorithm training.
Why it matters for SEO
Pages on YMYL (Your Money or Your Life) topics — health, medical advice, financial guidance, legal information, safety — are held to higher E-E-A-T standards because low-quality pages in these categories can cause real-world harm. For SEO, E-E-A-T signals include: named authors with verifiable credentials, author bio pages, About Us pages with team information, clear editorial policies, accurate dates on content, and external mentions or citations from authoritative sources. Content mills with no named authors fare poorly under E-E-A-T scrutiny.
How DeepSEOAnalysis checks this
The audit checks several E-E-A-T proxies: author attribution on article pages (is there an `author` property in the Article JSON-LD?), About and Contact page presence (flagged as missing if not found), and schema markup that supports entity clarity (Organization, Person). Full E-E-a-T assessment requires reading the content — an automated tool can check the signals, not the underlying quality.
